Cured concrete can be polished for a clean and glossy look, with ease of maintenance. Using concrete floor grinders with diamond abrasives, polishing is accomplished by several passes with varying levels of grit. The process is similar to polishing semi precious stones in a tumbler. From coarse to fine, the finished product will vary based on how deep into the concrete to expose the size of aggregate and determine the final and sheen through the polishing process. First, concrete is stripped of any coatings and any visible cracks are repaired. Then the floor is then ground down with finer and finer abrasives are used until the desired surface finish is achieved. The final step involves application of a densifier product to protect the concrete from oil, chemicals, staining and moisture.
